Advocacy

We are positioning occupational therapy as an integral part of Canada’s health care system.

  • CAOT is involved in important conversations on ageing in place, the opioid crisis, mental health, Truth and Reconciliation, End- of-Life care and Veteran’s health.
  • CAOT is proud to be partnered with the Canadian Home Builders Association to connect OTs with renovators and their customers.
  • CAOT-Qc is partnering with pharmacies across the province to deliver community education to older adults. CAOT-BC is ensuring optimal access to occupational therapy for those injured in motor vehicle crashes through government stakeholder meetings.
  • CAOT-North launches as of October 1, 2018; a membership chapter to represent OTs in the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
  • CAOT is talking to family physicians at the annual Family Medicine Forum with the message “Put an OT on your team.”
  • Contributing to CAOT’s public awareness campaign can help advance understanding and use of occupational therapy.
