In accordance with professional standards and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC), the Occupational Therapist works independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team providing occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of residents/ clients/patients (‘the client’) and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence and enable the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes in inpatient, outpatient, residential and community settings. The Occupational Therapist contributes to the organization and the overall goals of the profession and department; participates in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education; and provides work direction to the rehabilitation assistants working with the rehabilitation team. The Occupational Therapist provides input to the Manager by participating in the development of guidelines and procedures; research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the department. Performs administrative duties as required.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days - 08:00 to 16:00

New Wage: As of April 1, 2024, the new wage is: $42.56 - $52.95/hour

Kitimat General Hospital is a 19 acute bed hospital with a full range of services. Some services provided are emergency, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, outpatient chemotherapy clinic, physiotherapy, diabetes, and chronic disease management. Regular rotation of visiting specialists in internal medicine, urology, otorhinolaryngology (ENT), dermatology, neurology, ophthalmology, and radiology.

Qualifications

• Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
• Valid BC Driver’s License and use of a personal vehicle for business related use as required.
