Lifemark Health Group – Nanaimo – Part-time Occupational Therapist

We area seeking a Community Occupational Therapist to join our team and be responsible for a wide range of community based activities within Nanaimo and the surrounding area. The OT will travel to various locations in the area, making mobility to see clients a must. Responsibilities include:
  • Perform clinical evaluations, which may include intake assessments, ADL assessments, seating and positioning assessments, assistive technology assessment, driving rehabilitation or modification assessment, mental health assessment, return to work readiness assessment, concussion assessment, orthopaedic assessment and appropriate treatment provision for the above domains assessed
  • Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations
  • Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete applications/funding letters to Ministry of Health, insurance agencies and other funding parties as needed
  • Provide informal education on independence with activities of daily living, provide ongoing education to clients and family to improve function, independence and safety
  • Liaise with appropriate stakeholders to facilitate a return to work when appropriate
  • Liaise with other health care team members treating the patient in order to ensure appropriate care is delivered and that progress is maximised
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart as per guidelines established by the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a fully Registered Occupational Therapist required as per Worksafe contract
  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the provincial association of Occupational Therapists
  • FCE provision would be considered an asset
