Guiding factors bridge the gap between living and working with chronic pain (March 24, 2020)

Guiding factors bridge the gap between living and working with chronic pain (March 24, 2020)

Presented by Ariana Dirk and Dr. Lynn Shaw

One in five Canadians experience chronic pain; impeding their ability to support themselves and others, consequently impacting their quality of life. Client-centred application of factors facilitating return to work (RTW) is crucial for optimizing successful RTW and increasing workplace longevity while promoting a functional, meaningful life.

This webinar will present an overview of current literature identifying core factors identified by persons with chronic pain that facilitate successful RTW and longevity in the workplace. Practice application examples will be shared, outlining and building on therapeutic implementation of these facilitators.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:
  1. Understand current literature on living and working with chronic pain.
  2. Recognize and identify strategies occupational therapists can use to facilitate successful return to work (RTW).
  3. Identify areas of practice growth to bridge the current gap individuals face with the RTW process.
