Group interventions for cognitive rehabilitation in adult populations with cognitive dysfunction (August 24, 2021)

Occupational therapists are best suited to provide cognitive rehabilitation for people who experience cognitive dysfunction. Group cognitive rehabilitation is an effective, economical, and fun way to assist those who are experiencing cognitive challenges within an occupational therapy practice.

This webinar will define cognitive rehabilitation therapy and provide an evidence-based approach to utilizing this in a group setting for adults with milder forms of cognitive dysfunction. Topics to be explored include inclusion/exclusion criterion, safety, confidentiality, and content design. As well, the benefits of peer-support and group dynamics will be discussed.  

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to: 

1. Recognize the benefits of peer support and group activities for people who have sustained cognitive dysfunction.
2. Identify when group interventions are indicated or contraindicated.
3. Understand what the current evidence base indicates regarding effective cognitive rehabilitation techniques for mild cognitive impairment.
