ON-DEMAND WEBINAR PURCHASE

Presented by: Lynn Palfenier

Body-mind practices have been shown in research to improve clinical outcomes. In mental health practice adding these techniques into occupational therapy sessions with clients can further support regulation, awareness, improved function as well as enhance therapeutic rapport. This offers an complimentary experiential approach to support clients to 'be' and 'feel' as an adjunct to cognitive oriented approaches of 'doing' and 'planning'.

This webinar will review current neuroscience research on the basics of mind-body science, polyvagal theory, how interoception, body awareness, and movement can support regulation, and the science of co-regulation and therapeutic use of self as a highly important aspect of intervention. Three types of movement/body awareness practices will be reviewed as well as strategies to modify for various client presentations.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Have a basic understanding of neuroscience as it relates to poly-vagal theory, sensory integration techniques, and movement based therapies.
  2. Be able to integrate three basic body-based practices into a client session that are accessible to all clients.
  3. Be able to identify an mind-body based approach towards therapeutic use of self and for development of supportive therapeutic rapport.
