Executive function is interconnected with everything we do: Let’s talk about assessments and therapeutic interventions for children and youth (May 18, 2021)

Although most occupational therapists have heard of the term executive function (EF), it continues to be an area of cognition that is not assessed and subsequently addressed through interventions with children and youth.  Occupational therapists have a distinct value and role to support cognition as we use an occupational lens to help those with EF challenges.

This webinar will review current research, assessments, and intervention strategies will be completed support executive dysfunction in children who are served in schools, clinics, and the community. The introduced strategies will be directly pertinent to use in practice to help children thrive while engaging in daily life activities within a variety of natural environments.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to: 

1. Understand the current research on executive function.
2. Learn the impact of executive dysfunction on occupational performance for children and youth.
3. Identify assessment tools for executive dysfunction and link intervention strategies to maximize functional performance in children and youth.
