Cognitive rehabilitation after acquired brain injury: from evidence to practice (April 13, 2021)
Description

ON-DEMAND WEBINAR PURCHASE

Presented by: Valerie Poulin & Marc-Andre Pellerin

The cognitive rehabilitation of persons living with self-awareness and executive function deficits post-acquired brain injury is essential to foster engagement in therapy, functional recovery and successful community reintegration. However, it has been recognized as a complex and challenging area of practice, where multiple factors may influence the selection, tailoring and use of evidence-based interventions.

This webinar will provide occupational therapists with practical strategies for implementing evidence-based practices to improve occupational performance and to promote generalization and transfer of skills to everyday life in adults living with self-awareness and executive function deficits after traumatic brain injury and stroke. Key considerations when selecting, tailoring and using cognitive strategy interventions with this clientele will also be discussed. Participants will be invited to share challenging experiences and potential solutions to implement these practices.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe evidence-based practices to improve occupational performance and to promote generalization and transfer of skills to everyday life in adults living with self-awareness and executive function deficits after acquired brain injury.
  2. Plan, select and tailor these evidence-based practices from a case scenario.
  3. Identify determinants influencing the implementation of these practices within the clinical setting.
