Thursday, January 16, 2025 & Friday, January 17, 2025
12:00 - 3:15 p.m. (Eastern Time)
Leadership skills have been established as key competencies for health professionals (Al-Sawai, 2013; Brown et al., 2014; Sithamparanathan et al., 2022), as there is an increasing body of evidence that highlights the strong correlation between interdisciplinary leadership and high-quality client care (Corrigan et al., 2000; Ju & van Schaik, 2021; Mianda & Voce, 2018). Occupational therapists in Canada are poised to take on leadership roles within health care and many would benefit from skills or training to feel confident in these roles.
This workshop will provide an opportunity for occupational therapy professionals in or interested in formal management activities to reflection upon the skills and tools they need to be successful in management positions. Best practice and tools required to manage teams will be discussed. Topics discussed include self-awareness, conflict resolutions, innovation, performance management, burnout, feedback, managing multigenerational teams, and team dynamics. During this very interactive workshop, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on what tools they need to lead, build their own unique leadership toolkits, and engage in small and large group discussions.
