Register online by May 2, 2017 - 5/9/2017
Presenter: Marjorie Désormeaux-Moreau
This webinar is intended to provide occupational therapists with a clinical tool for the appreciation of people with mental illness’ home safety. Home safety issues faced by these people will first be described and the SECuRE tool will then be presented. SECuRE, which has been developed based on both theoretical and empirical data, aims to target risk and protective factors, values at stake as well as psychosocial and ethical issues raised by situations where people with a mental illness’ home safety is compromised. Finally, an example of how to apply it in clinical practice will be proposed.
After taking part in this webinar, participants will:
1. Identify the various factors that may affect people with a mental illness’s home safety.
2. Justify the specific role of the occupational therapists in the assessment of people with a mental illness’s home safety.
3. Refer to modalities that may facilitate a contextualized home safety assessment in order to match home safety intervention to the needs of a specific person.
