An estimated 7.63 million (1 in 4) Canadians over the age of 15 have chronic pain (Government of Canada, 2020). There is an even higher ratio present among clients obtaining occupational therapy services. It is therefore essential for occupational therapists to understand the science behind pain and to know how to empower clients to self-manage their pain. 

This webinar will provide an overview of pain science and the theories to explain pain. Participants will learn how to educate clients about their pain in order to facilitate self-management and regain function in their everyday lives.  

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to: 

1. Define chronic pain.
2. Employ current best practices for educating clients on pain.
3. Understand and explain the causes of chronic pain.
