Description

ON-DEMAND WEBINAR PURCHASE

Presented by: Elizabeth Griffin Lannigan, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA

When designing evidence-informed services, practitioners utilize agency-level needs assessment to determine aggregate client occupational needs for implanting relevant interventions. As outcome measures, these tools can document client outcomes and provide data for program and agency intervention effectiveness.

This webinar will describe assessment measure selection in mental health practice, based on professional reasoning, and will discuss assessment effectiveness for initial evaluation of client strengths and challenges. The steps to determine client occupational needs through an agency or setting needs assessment will be presented. The reasoning process will highlight how to identify effective interventions, from evidence-based practice, to target client needs. Selection of relevant assessment tools for goal-setting and outcome measurement will be illustrated.  This webinar will provide a case example to highlight use of assessments to establish individual client goals and to measure post-intervention outcomes. Various mental health assessment measures will be presented as examples for matching client occupational needs within occupational therapy services.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the needs assessment process to identify agency/setting client occupational needs in mental health practice.
  2. Understand current practice for matching assessment measures to client needs and outcomes in evidence-based practice.
  3. Define strategies to critique effectiveness of assessment tools.
